- Size :
- 16.5 cm. width, 27 cm. height
- Era age :
- Hariphunchai period, 14th - 16th Buddhist era
- Characteristic :
- The urn with the high shape lid has a light-colored surface, red more or less, without coating. It is fine-grained; it is burnt at the low temperature yet completely heated throughout its surface. It is thoroughly shaped and burnt. This antiquity has two parts: the urn and the lid. The urn is decorated with a convex line and designed with parallel scratches. Transverse multiple parallels are also used in sculpture of Buddha statues since this approach is the aesthetics of the contemporary Hariphunchai arts. Its lid is spherical and high, decorated with scratches between parallels which are wavy and triangular patterns. It is quite similar to pottery in Sri Ksetra among the Pyu found in the ancient city Beikthano, Meiktila district, Myanmar. It is used for interment. Given that its historical age overlaps between Sri Ksetra and the early Bagan period, the age may be roughly in the 14th – 16th Buddha century. It is worth being regarded as the national antiquity. This particular urn is the only piece in the Hariphunchai period with perfection and real beauty, which clearly reflects the relation between Hariphunchai and Sri Ksetra-Bagan.
