It is Thai sweet made of nut, sesame seeds, popped rice and sugar and always made during Sart Thai, Thai Ghost Festival, or a Thai festival at the end of 10th lunar month, or so called Sart Duan Sip. In some local, krayasat goes well with pisang mas or golden banana which is referred to in Nirat Duan Sip, a kind of lyrical Thai poetry, normally composed when departing a place as follows:
Here comes the 10th month, Sart Thai,
A variety of food for lunch we provide
Krayasat and golden bananas on the footed tray
Folks gather together during the days.
Krayasat is a symbol of abundantly agricultural production, and it is alsocounted as the way of making a merit for the rice in the field which is firstly harvested. - Current :
