- A bronze kettledrum is invented using a technique of metal substitution with wax. The drumhead and its body are made the same piece. The chest of the drum arches to meet its waist which is cylinder. There are 4 pairs of ears, and decorated with pattern of humans, with feather ornament and buffalo pictures.
- Current :
- Ruined and covered with rust, the drumhead is damaged and has a long crack, decay and dent. The rim of the lower part of the drum was damaged and widely torn.
- History :
- Janjawa Wittayakom School received the kettledrum from Mr. Chusap Saisaeng, an engineer of Bua Construction Limited Patnership in B.E. 2546 (2003). The kettledrum was accidentally found during the dredging of Nong Khiao, a natural water resource in the west of Wiang Janjawa Ancient City, the location of the school nowadays. This kettledrum was found in Janjawa Ancient City, one of ancient cities located in the low land of Chiangsaen. This antiquity is like an eyewitness of social development, lifestyles of the people in the area before it was developed into houses, cities, Kingdom of Lanna and Thailand at the present time. Therefore, the drum is worth being an important antiquity of the country.
